Our father, Merle Cassatt, passed away, in December of 1999. He is survived by two children- a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Sharon Cassatt, of Eldersburg, MD and their children... Have been a respiratory therapist since graduating from St. Francis Hospital, in Hartford in 1964; completed and receieved a MEd, from Cambridge College and have had many opportunities to practice around the world -served as a flight medic and taught respiratory care courses at several New England colleges. Most of my experiences have been related to management and administration of multiple hospital departments, in university affiliated institutions. I enjoy my family and outdoor activities ie. mountain climbing, backpacking and snowshoeing to name a few. Five children and four grandchildren keep us very busy. Retired from the U.S. Marine Corps/Navy, in 1997. Widowed in 1998, after 34 years of marriage to Iris Shanks; one son and three grandchildren. Graduated from the University of Memphis and Emory-Riddle Aeronautical University, with a B.S. & M.S. in professional aeronautical engineering/management. Have traveled the world, but would still like to settle in PA or perhaps, a little piece of Arkansas, to be near the grandkids. Francis "Sandy" Santini, 62, of North Charleroi, passed away at home on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, his birthday. He was the youngest son of the late Edmund and Beatrice Wilkinson Santini and the husband of Joan Lowther Santini for 40 years. Sandy graduated with the Class of 1962 from Charleroi Area High School, where he was employed for 35 l/2 years and retired as the maintenance supervisor in August 2005. He served as the Charleroi girls' middle school softball coach for 20 years and coached the North Charleroi Recreation girls' softball for many years. Sandy also played for the North Charleroi French Club Softball Team. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying the outdoors, hunting, fishing, golfing and organizing family paintball games with his grandchildren and sons-in-law. Sandy attended the First Christian Church of Charleroi, and was a member of the F&AM Lodge of Fayette City, the Slavic and French clubs, both of North Charleroi, the Cokeburg Sportsmen's Club, and the Confederate Sons of America. He served as a councilman for the Borough of North Charleroi for 25 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Tracie Hyatt and husband Shayne, of North Charleroi, and Shannon Hostovich and husband Ron, of Fallowfield Township; his son, Wayne Francis Santini Jr. and wife Amy, of North Charleroi; two brothers, Eugene Santini and wife Bertha, of Belle Vernon (Lynnwood), and Leonard Santini and wife Sally, of Fallowfield Township; one sister, Viola Elton, of Iowa; six grandchildren, Dane and Zachary Hostovich, Jerimiah and Hunter Hyatt, and Dominik and Rylee Santini; six nephews and three nieces. Friends will be received Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the SCHROCK-HOGAN FUNERAL HOME and CREMATION SERVICES INC., (www.schrock-hogan.com), 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, where funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jim Linn officiating. Interment will be in Maple Creek Cemetery.
