Living in Miami is like being on a constant vacation... as there is always somewhere to go, something/somewhere to see, etc. The weather can be brutal in the summer, but it is wonderful most of the time. In addition, the multi-cultures make it a most interesting and unique place to live and work. There is no 'melting pot' yet, as everyone just got off the boat or raft!!

Michael passed away on March 3, 2004, from complications from liver disease. While at CHS, Mike, was a member of the band and 'Trombone Trio' & a lead member of the forensic and drama clubs. He was a graduate of California State Teachers College and Officer Candidate School, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, in Vietnam. He was discharged as a captain. Mike lived and worked along the Jersey Shore, from Atlantic Highlands to Mays Landing. Survivors included his partner of 16 years, Sherry Krosnick, a daughter, Jennifer and one brother, Daniel J., Class of '66. |

The Rev. Dr. L. Kenneth Hooten II died May 23, 2003, in Shadyside Hospital. Kenneth received his Master of Divinity Degree, in 1971 and his Doctorate of Ministry in Pastoral Care and Counseling, in 1984, from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Dr. Hooten began his ministry, in Endicott, NY, in 1971 and most recently served as pastor of United Presbyterian Church, in New Kensington. Surviving at death were his wife of 33 years, Judith Hall Hooten, a daughter, Errin Hooten Thorndike and one granddaughter, Madeline Jane Thorndike. |

Darrell and I have moved back to Charleroi and will be married, on July 24, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church. As you can see, I have a new email address with new initials. To say I am happy would be the understatement of the century.
UPDATE 7/25/04: Darrell and I were married on July 24, 2004, in a beautiful ceremony at the First United Methodist Church in Charleroi. We are delaying our honeymoon until Spring due to work commitments. Hope to see everyone at the class reunion... work permitting.
UPDATE 12/4/04: We are having a ball getting ready for the holidays and our first Christmas together. I am truly the luckiest woman on the planet, I married my soul mate. Keep in touch!

NELAN, Bill... IN MEMORIAM
William G. Nelan, 58, of Charleroi (Mapleview), died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Westmoreland County. He was born Feb. 21, 1947, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Gerald B. and Edith Lax Nelan. Bill was a graduate of Charleroi High School, Class of 1964, and West Virginia College, Class of 1969. Bill was dedicated and very active in the Presbyterian Church of Charleroi, where he held many offices and helped with many church functions. Bill also was an avid golfer. He was employed by Luzerne Optical in Wilkes-Barre as a sales representative. He is survived by his wife, Carol Peake Nelan; two daughters, Heather Nelan of Pennsbury Village and Audra Nelan, at home; a sister-in-law, Martha Gandley and husband Robert of Monongahela; a niece and nephew, Robin Gandley-Figucia and husband David, and Robert Gandley and wife Julie; great-nephews and niece, Jacob and Marie Figucia and Robert and James Gandley. There will be no public viewing. Family and friends attending funeral services on Saturday, March 19, at 1:30 p.m., are asked to go directly to the Presbyterian Church of Charleroi, Fifth Street and Lincoln Avenue. Pastor Fran Lane-Lawrence will officiate. Interment will be in the Monongahela Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Presbyterian Church of Charleroi. The SCHROCK-HOGAN FUNERAL HOME INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, is in charge of arrangements.

SEFTAS, Janet (Thomas Novich) IN MEMORIAM
Janet passed away, on February 18, 2003, in Mon Valley Hospital. She had worked as a medical transcriptionist, at Jefferson Hospital. At the time of Janet's death survivors included her mother, Marie McKita Seftas; a son, Gregory S. Thomas and one daughter, Dana Renee Thomas.
On a personal note, 'Janie' was one of the loveliest persons I have had the privilege of knowing in this lifetime. Sweet and charming, her kindness always will be remembered.

Our weekends are very busy. They always have something going on, which requires transportation. My oldest daughter is 17 and she will graduate this year. She is cyber schooled.
