BACKSTROM, Judy (Turney) IN MEMORIAM
Judy Backstrom Turney, 52, of Davis Drive, a dental receptionist, died Saturday night, Nov. 26, 2005, as a result of pulmonary fibrosis. Judy attended Charleroi Area High School, in Charleroi, Pa., graduating in 1971, and spent her life in Allenport, Pa. She moved with her family in 1993, settling in New Smyrna Beach. She attended Servants Quarters Fellowship Church. Survivors include her husband, Dr. Ben Turney; two children, Zac and Levi; her sister, Pam Carson and husband Tom; her brother, Rusty Backstrom and wife Candice; her mother, Hila Backstrom Wheeles and husband Bill; brothers- and sisters-in-law, William and Estelle Turney, Genie Trickett, Laurie Schaffer and Jim Turney; father-in-law, Pastor Eugene Turney; 10 nieces and nephews; and many of her sons' friends, to whom she was a second mother. Judy enjoyed crafting, home decorating, fishing, scalloping, snorkeling, whitewater rafting, hiking, sports, and entertaining friends and family. A simple service will be held for her at the Sapphire Beach Pavilions, overlooking the ocean and beach that she loved, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005. All friends are welcome to attend. Brother-in-law, the Rev. Tom Carson, will be in charge of the service.

CHECCHI, Elmo D. IN MEMORIAM
Elmo D. Checchi, 53, of Charleroi, died Saturday, June 9, 2007, in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born Jan. 7, 1954, in Charleroi, the son of Emily Celaschi Checchi, who survives and resides in Charleroi, and the late Elmo A. Checchi. He was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church Parish and the Italia Unita Club, both of Charleroi, and Baker's Golf League. Elmo graduated from Charleroi Area High School in 1971. He also graduated from California University of Pennsylvania and obtained his master's degree from Waynesburg College. Elmo was employed with JayCee Foods of Charleroi. Surviving, in addition to his mother, is one sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Harry Hammer, of McMurray; and his beloved nieces, Julie and Jennifer Hammer. Friends will be received in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 14, at 10 a.m. in Mary, Mother of the Church, and interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township.

David R. Godisart, 53, of Waynesburg, formerly of Charleroi, died at 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, in UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born June 21, 1953, in Charleroi, a son of the late Morris Godisart and Barbara Shanley Godisart. He was a former member and Past President of the Waynesburg and Charleroi Lions clubs. Mr. Godisart always enjoyed cars. For 29 years, he, along with his wife, owned and operated Greene County Office Equipment in Waynesburg. He also was the Xerox representative for this area. Surviving are his wife, Roberta White Godisart, whom he married Aug. 18, 1978; two sons, Jeff Godisart, of Pittsburgh, and Tim Godisart, of Waynesburg; one sister, Leslie Godisart, of Charleroi; one brother, Alan Godisart, of California, Pa.; and two nephews. Visitation will be held at MILLIKEN and THROCKMORTON FUNERAL HOME INC., 197 North Maiden St., Waynesburg, Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m. with Captain Steve McGill officiating. KONDRATIC, Dale M. (In Memoriam)
Dale Michael Kondratic, 51, of North Charleroi, died Friday, June 17, 2005, in UPMC-Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. He was born Aug. 2, 1953, in North Charleroi, a son of Irene Zak Kondratic of North Charleroi and the late John A. Kondratic. Dale was a graduate of Charleroi High School Class of 1971 and the University of Pittsburgh Class of 1976, where he received his master's degree in Library Information Science. He retired from the John K. Tener Library in Charleroi, where he was the librarian for 25 years. Dale was an avid sports fan, supporting all the Pittsburgh sports teams. He was a member of Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church in Charleroi. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Robin Lysinger and husband Bill of Pleasant Hills; two nephews and godsons, Brandon and Jordan Lysinger. In addition to his father, Dale was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Paraska Zak. Friends will be received Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. in the SCHROCK-HOGAN FUNERAL HOME INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 21, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Monongahela Cemetery. Parastas services will be held Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
