Remember the Corner Store - Penny Candy, Louie's Bread and Chipped Ham?

The Beaumariage's were once quite prominent in Lock Four. Alex, my grandfather's brother operated the A-1 Grocery Store in the 500 block of Center Avenue. Here attached is a picture of the inside. From left to right is an unknown customer, Uncle Alex and my Aunt Priscilla, my mother's sister. She was born in 1908 and judging by the picture, I'd say she was about 17 to 20, so the picture was mid to late 1920's. That store was operational yet when I was still living in Lock Four (to age four) and after. I can distinctly remember going there to buy penny candy. Uncle Alex had the nicest penny candy case, known to a small kid. It was to the right just inside the front door and that was about as far as I went.
